Those who are the type of people who always wear a watch often don’t realize how much they rely on it until they are no longer wearing it. Many people wear one every single day, and those that do get into a habit of checking it more than once a day. The more you check it, the more likely you are not to realize how important it has become to your lifestyle. Often, watches are designed to be very unnoticeable when being worn. They are fairly lightweight so that they don’t bother the man, who is often not used to wearing something that resembles jewelry, and are often filled with gadgets so that the technological lover type of man is happy with his watch.

History

Then there are those who prefer a men’s watch that comes from a prestigious company, such as those who enjoy owning a Swiss Army. This company has been making timepieces only in the last dozen or so years, but their models have quickly become known as some of the best watches that you can purchase for a good price, thanks, most likely, to the company’s insistence that it’s possible to create something that is inexpensive while still maintaining the functionality of the item.

The Swiss Army company is known by most people for making knives, not watches. Often when people discover that the company is making timepieces, they immediately jump to the mistaken conclusion that they will be filled with gadgets that flip out and do interesting things. While the company does have a few unique models, the majority of their offerings are designed to be simple and effective, much like their knives and flashlights are.

What is the most interesting is that the company was able to break into the industry even though they did not have hundreds of years of experience on their side. Most new companies have a very hard time becoming well known due to the simple fact that there are so many excellent companies out there. Victorinox, however, was able to take their designers, who were all European born, and to create amazing works of art that were able to meet, and in many cases surpass, the models that were already on the market.

Movement

They’re a collection from the company that are designed to be very utilitarian in their look. These analog models are mainly very dark in look and very simple. They feature the time with marks on the inside of the face to signify the military time, making it easy for those who are not used to calculating it in their head. Each Swiss Army Renegade watch has a small window to tell what the date is, and a smoothly gliding second hand as well.

Style

The style is very simple. The most popular by far is the black-on-black which features nothing more than a rubber wrist band and a white on black watch face. The white hands are what sets the watch off and, of course, the Swiss Army insignia is featured in the number 12 position.

What They Are Known For

This model is known for being the type that can be worn out of doors without having to worry that it will be damaged. It is a very light model that most men, and women, can enjoy for a number of years thanks to the strong craftsmanship behind it. Water resistant up to fifty meters, you’ll never have to worry about getting caught in a storm with this model.

It doesn’t matter whether you’re in the business world or are someone who stays home to take care of your family, watches are important. They allow us to know exactly what time it is no matter whether we happen to be near a clock or not. And now, they have become much more than just a way to tell the time, they’ve become a fashion statement, allowing wearers to accessorize and match them with their outfits.

History

It didn’t used to be, however, that they were so important. For a vast amount of history, watches were never used. It wasn’t until the 15th century that a men’s watch was finally invented. Many believe that a clockmaker from Germany who was named Peter Henlein was the first to create a small, portable timepiece. In the 1600’s, pocket models were worn by men while women wore pendants. They continued in this fashion until the 1920’s. During that time, only women wore them on their wrist. They realized that it was much easier to see what the time was.

Men considered them to be “unmanly”, and vowed that they’d rather wear skirts than wear a wristwatch. Soldiers, however, realized that it was much easier to wear a wrist model than it was to have to pull out a pocket version, and before the 1930’s, wristwatches overcame pocket models to become the timekeeping pieces that everyone wore.

Now you can find many companies making models for both men and women. Swiss Army watches have become extremely popular in the last decade or so by creating versions that are not only beautiful to look at but that are created to stand the test of time. The company has been characterized again and again by perseverance, and this can certainly be seen in their timepiece products. In the industry, it is very difficult to be able to break in if you haven’t been making timepieces for generations, as most of the companies have been making them for a very long time indeed. Victorinox, however, was able to utilize all of the skills of their designers in order to create timepiece that were equal, and many that surpassed, the models that were already on the market, making them a company to take notice of from the moment that they started releasing timepieces.

Movement

There are a variety of different collections to choose from. One popular one is the Swiss Army Officer’s 1884 watches. The precision Swiss Quartz movement that these watches offer is much like the movement that many of the companies offer, guaranteed to work and to keep the time accurately for a very long time.

Style

Unlike some of the collections from this company, this collection has models that, while maintaining a similar look, have a variety of different bracelets. Some are made of leather, while others are made of metal, providing a unique look for each watch. All of the faces, however, contain the 12 hour time as well as the 24 hour time and also include a small date window. Most have a blue dial, and the crystal is an anti reflective sapphire type.

What They Are Known For

They are known mainly for being the type that you can wear for a variety of different types of situations, including during office hours and in a more casual setting. With a Swiss Army Officer’s 1884 watch, the owner can be secure in knowing that the timepiece is going to last, and to tell the time reliably, for their lifetime.
