Then there are those who prefer a men’s watch that comes from a prestigious company, such as those who enjoy owning a Swiss Army. This company has been making timepieces only in the last dozen or so years, but their models have quickly become known as some of the best watches that you can purchase for a good price, thanks, most likely, to the company’s insistence that it’s possible to create something that is inexpensive while still maintaining the functionality of the item.

The Swiss Army company is known by most people for making knives, not watches. Often when people discover that the company is making timepieces, they immediately jump to the mistaken conclusion that they will be filled with gadgets that flip out and do interesting things. While the company does have a few unique models, the majority of their offerings are designed to be simple and effective, much like their knives and flashlights are.

They feature the time with marks on the inside of the face to signify the military time, making it easy for those who are not used to calculating it in their head. Style

The style is very simple. The most popular by far is the black-on-black which features nothing more than a rubber wrist band and a white on black watch face. The white hands are what sets the watch off and, of course, the Swiss Army insignia is featured in the number 12 position.

History

It didn’t used to be, however, that they were so important. For a vast amount of history, watches were never used. It wasn’t until the 15th century that a men’s watch was finally invented. Many believe that a clockmaker from Germany who was named Peter Henlein was the first to create a small, portable timepiece. In the 1600’s, pocket models were worn by men while women wore pendants. Men considered them to be “unmanly”, and vowed that they’d rather wear skirts than wear a wristwatch. Soldiers, however, realized that it was much easier to wear a wrist model than it was to have to pull out a pocket version, and before the 1930’s, wristwatches overcame pocket models to become the timekeeping pieces that everyone wore.

The company has been characterized again and again by perseverance, and this can certainly be seen in their timepiece products.
