Breitling

In existence for more than a century, Breitling watches have done quite a bit for the wristwatch industry over the course of its history, and for that reason, the world of watches will always be grateful to this particular brand name. As one of the soundest brand names in the industry, they are some of the most frequently displayed luxury watches in the world.  Still completely manufactured in Switzerland from Swiss-made components, they’re more of a status symbol than anything else, but few can argue the real quality behind these amazing pieces. While some of the most expensive time pieces in the world today, they’re also some of the most striking, a factor that continues to draw individuals to purchase them.

History of Breitling

Breitling history is one that is steeped in so much tradition and crosses over so many historical boundaries that it is sometimes difficult to keep track of it all.  The history of this particular retailer of mens watches starts in 1884 with Leon Breitling, the man that would eventually create a workshop that would give rise to the dynasty that became this particular watch company.  By 1892, the company had already grown to such a large extent that Leon was able to relocate his company to an area of Switzerland that in those days was the intellectual center of the Swiss watch revolution that was slowly taking the world by storm.  It was at that time also that Breitling watches started to become intertwined with the desire that men had to reach the atmosphere and eventually after that the stars as well.

In 1903, a watch from this company was responsible for tracking the 12 second flight of the Wright brothers.  In 1927, another product from this watch was responsible for tracking the flight of Charles Lindberg across the Atlantic Ocean and then in 1935 one more was used by Amelia Earhart to keep track of the time spent flying across the Pacific Ocean.  By 1936, they had a contract with the Royal Air Force, thus propelling them to international fame among pilots everywhere.

These watches have a rich history of being tied to flight and aviation history and right through to the modern day in terms of space flight, the space race and everything that followed, a Breitling watch has been at the forefront of many of these historical attempts at travel.  In this way, the watches of this company and the efforts of man to reach the clouds and the stars are almost linked together symbiotically and that once more is something that will far outlast in legacy form the company itself.

What They Are Known For

The men’s watches created by this company are the ones that will be known more for the history behind them than anything else.  Because of the well known ties that this company has to many of the events in aviation history, it certainly has a historical presents, but the rest of the company’s legacy rests on the quality of their products.  The major thing that Breitling watches are known for has to be the overall excellence they display whenever they are being tested.  When independent testing is being done on these watches, and additionally whenever the company is testing their own watches for quality control purposes, they have the uncanny ability to exceed even the optimistic projections and hopes that their company has pinned on them going forward into the marketplace.  Many products can live up to the public’s expectations, but in an industry like watch-making, where many long-standing excellent companies are present, it is very hard for a product to live up to the expectations of the previous ones made by the same company.  Most of the Breitling watch products have done this, however, and that type of overall consistency is one of the major good points to the reputation of this company.

In addition to that overall consistency, another thing that this company is known for has to do with their superquartz technology.  Quartz is a mineral substance that is utilized in the creation of most modern watches because of its excellent ability to keep time, but it can be manipulated in many different ways.  Some of these ways are more effective than others in time-keeping, and the superquartz technology that Breitling utilizes in the creation of their watches is very impressive technology no matter how one looks at it.  The result is the ultra-accurate precision that defines every model.  As far as mens watches are concerned, they are some of the best.

Moreover, though, their features are what remains so attractive about them. Their large face allows for excellent visibility as well as more information via the standard analog dials. Most feature automatic winding and many come with great extras like moon phase, date display, split-second, and flyback function.
