Brands

Today, the majority of timepieces seem to be characterized by styles not by components or quality. People want a sports piece, or a luxury item, and rarely think about what they really want in such an often used device. For many, a built in depth finder or digital voice recorder are less important than simply knowing that they have invested in a truly quality product. For those who are not as concerned about what kind of timepiece they have, and are after instead the guarantee that the company is pushing the limits of technology and manufacturing. When talking about Seiko watches, innovation is the name of the game.

What We Like About Seiko

Though many timepiece manufacturers are new to the industry, and their products have not stood the test of time, this is not the case for this company. Indeed, they have been in existence in the same form for over one hundred years, and, in fact, are the premier manufacturer in Japan. Seiko produced the first timepiece designed in that country, which now has quite a reputation for quality and elegance. In more modern times, their innovation and dedication to technology have only increased. Not only did they produce the first quartz piece, and the first LCD quartz digital screen, they also continue to challenge themselves with more recent technology such as timepieces that have the capability to receive television signals or record sound. They also produced the world’s first computerized men’s watches. Far from simply experimenting with media, This brand is also a proud supporter of sporting events and athletes around the world. tarting with the Tokyo Olympic games in 1964, this company’s products have been used to keep time an many official international sporting events. Their Scubamaster piece has received a lot of acclaim, but they even have a product that is designed to be taken on a space walk, making it clear that they are willing to go to the ends of the earth, and beyond.

Some Things We Don’t Like about Seiko

While it is nice to know that the timepiece you are wearing on your wrist was made by one of the leading innovators in time keeping technology and design, this is not always the thing about which you should be the most concerned. Just because a company made its name by introducing new products and functions to the market, this does not mean that they will continue to be the leaders in a particular field. There are a great many more mens watches manufacturers today than there were when many of this company’s greatest inventions premiered. For those who want a timepiece that promises more than simply being innovative, it might be best to shop around before settling on this brand.

History of Seiko

Seiko is one of the industry’s oldest producers of timepieces. First founded in 1881, it became the first Japanese manufacturers of wrist timepieces in 1913. Prior to this the company specialized in larger standing or wall mounted clocks for the home, as well as traditional pocket time keepers. Their philosophy has long been that timepieces should exist in harmony with the wearer, and adjust to his demands, and it is easy to see how this kind of thinking has inspired many of the company’s major technological discoveries. Though today the company makes far more than just one type of product, and have expanded their business to include eyeglasses and sports equipment, they remain focused on the timepieces that earned them their reputation.
