History of the Brand

Cerruti was founded as a textile mill in 1881. The company’s direction took a major turn in 1950 when leadership of the business was thrust up the shoulders of Nino Cerutti in the wake of his father’s death. Nino was a mere 20 years old at the time. He first set about improving the current mills and then set his eyes on a more radical idea. In a time when manufacturing fabric and designing clothing were totally separate enterprises, he set up on in-house fashion label and ready-to-wear line for his company. This changed the way the industry worked. As his clothing line succeeded he added other lines such as timepieces to the business. Today, the line continues in the same spirit, making true luxury items that are sure to become classics.
