The idea for this brand was born in the cold waters of the Pacific Ocean. Men’s watches were decades in the distance when a pair of twin brothers first surfed at night in cold waters and tried to stay warm. Wetsuits would be their first innovation with many others to follow. All of this company’s products are made for use in and around the water, including their timepieces. They have an athletic look that has definite appeal. These models are water resistant and durable to the core. The colorful and youthful styles have bold details and offer an exciting combination of function and fashion.

What We Love About Body Glove
A Body Glove watch is rugged and designed for use in and around the water. They are very resilient and nearly every model is water resistant. They perform well under extreme conditions. This brand is a great choice for athletes like swimmers, surfers and SCUBA divers. Most participants in these sports are already familiar with the brand and its excellent reputation. They have a characteristic style that follows the fashion of the day and fits in well with the look of the company’s other products like their wetsuits, sports gear, clothing and sunglasses. They are very current in their approach to exciting design, using the vivid colors and modern look favored by a younger buyer. There are plenty of options in materials, too. Rubber, stainless steel and leather are used in various models depending on the make and intended use. Cases are typically stainless steel and movements are quartz, widely acknowledged as the most accurate system of keeping time currently on the market. There are models for casual wear in addition to the sporty performance pieces. The range of the product is quite large and offers many different colors and styles. Prices are very reasonable, especially considering the durability of the products Body Glove creates.

Some Things We Don’t Like About Body Glove
Known more for athletic gear and clothing, this brand does not have a long history of fine watch making. Body Glove is obviously not a venerated old Swiss company, handcrafting their inner workings and cases in small quantities. This is a good, mass-market product worn for performance and fashion but not for its prestige among collectors. There are a number of different styles for different sports and occasions, but few are formal in attitude. Casual style is the company’s mainstay and their timepieces don’t stray far from that aesthetic. They appeal mainly to a younger consumer whose pursuits require their timepiece to perform under hard use.
Company History
Founders Bob and Bill Meistrell were always innovators. Even as children the rigged up a crate to explore the bottom of a pond. Despite have grown up in Missouri, the twin brothers were part of the first wave of California surfers populating Manhattan Beach in the 1940s. They were lifeguards, deep sea divers and among the first certified SCUBA instructors. Surfing at night by car headlight in the cold Pacific, they hatched an idea to keep warm with a refrigerator insulation material called neoprene. The wetsuits that resulted from this idea were the beginning of the line of products made for the water, including timepieces for swimming, diving, surfing and just observing.
