Some Things We Don’t Like About Avirex

These timepieces are designed and worn for the sake of fashion and not necessarily for their craftsmanship. They are machine made, not handcrafted, and are unlikely to appreciate in value. The Chinese quartz movements, while accurate and durable, are not to be held in the same regard as a fine handmade Swiss movement. The prices are moderate, but there are other budget brands that offer the same quality for less. As a fashion label, it is in the mid-range and perhaps not as prestigious as more upscale brand names. An Avirex is a good choice for a nice-looking watch at an affordable price.

Company History

The Company was founded in 1975 by Jeff Clyman, along with his wife and partner Jacky. Clyman was an air show fighter pilot with an obvious love of flight and its storied history. His passion is still evident in the Avirex line today, despite the changes in ownership. He began his company with clothing, most notably jackets and outerwear. Some of his designs were featured in the classic movie about Navy aviators, Top Gun. This brand has served its country well, supplying both NASA and the US Armed Forces with combat aviation gear for 25 years. With a name meaning “sky king”, this brand has nowhere to go but up.
