Brands

Within any category of product, there are high-end brands with outstanding performance and budget brands that are a little more wallet friendly. The two ends of the spectrum rarely share any common features. Timepieces are no exception. Expensive brands usually corner the market on style and function, but it’s only for a premium price tag. Lower priced models won’t dent the budget but they usually sacrifice the quality of materials or accuracy of the timepiece (or both) to maintain their low cost. This brand of mens watches manages to bridge the gap between performance and price with a wide variety of stylish and accurate timepieces suitable for any budget.

What We Love About Armitron

One of the best things about Armitron is how it manages to maintain such an affordable price tag while still offering accurate timekeeping and tons of models. They are clearly one of the best values on the market. The selection of styles is also top notch. This brand produces everything from a conservative, stainless steel bracelet style to a series of fun and kitschy cartoon character timepieces. There are digital and analog models constructed of stainless steel, leather, rubber or plastic. Options of almost any size or shape can be found within this brand’s offerings, which run the gamut from bold to traditional to sporty. Because of their inexpensive price, they are a great choice for a workhorse timepiece, one that is likely to experience wear and tear.

Even with all this company’s emphasis on keeping down the cost of their products, they still produce consistent quality. To show that they stand behind their products, they offer a lifetime guarantee on working parts. Few budget brands provide this kind of assurance. Most movements are quartz, the most accurate timekeeping system currently in use, but there are also a select few Armitron watches featuring a more intricate automatic movement and skeleton dial like those seen in more upscale lines.

Some Things We Don’t Like About Armitron

There aren’t many drawbacks to owning one of the timepieces made by Armitron, but there are a few. It may be a good value but the brand is not known for haute couture styling. Most of the designs are fairly standard and were probably heavily inspired by their upscale rivals. They do lack some of the weight and feel of a luxury model. Materials, while excellent for the price, will not be as fine as those found in a more expensive model. This brand is not like to appreciate in value or become a collector’s item but it is a solid choice at a reasonable price.

Company History

This is the flagship line of the E. Gluck Corporation. The company was founded in 1955 by Eugen Gluck, who remains the company‘s CEO and owner. Since its inception, its mission has been to provide the finest in style and quality. They were one of the first companies in the 1970s to switch from LED to LCD displays in their digital mens watch, extending the battery life and setting a new industry standard. They have been setting the bar for other brands ever since with affordable products that are made with the utmost care and craftsmanship. The company’s latest foray into automatic movements marks a new and exciting era for this corporation’s venerable legacy.
